Mr Paul LaBarre

As a senior technical officer at PATH, Paul LaBarre's primary focus is providing strategic direction for the integration of appropriate technologies with delivery strategies in the areas of HIV and malaria diagnostics.He is a seasoned leader in biomedical technology design, field and laboratory evaluations, private- and public-sector collaboration, multicultural negotiations, technology transfer, commercialization, and standards development.

Paul leads the Project DIAMETER (Diagnostics for Malaria Elimination Toward Eradication) programme at PATH aimed at developing and commercialising the most promising, cost-effective, and impactful technologies for malaria elimination.

Paul is also Principle Investigator responsible for all aspects of National Institutes of Health-funded Non-Instrumented Nucleic Acid Amplification diagnostic project aimed at providing early infant diagnosis and acute phase diagnosis of HIV-1 in remote, infrastructure-free settings.

Paul contributes to the malaria work of the Diagnostics Modelling Consortium.
